More than 80 MAPAL employees as future lifesavers

The blood donation campaign organized by the youth and trainee representatives was again very well received by the employees.

After the successful premiere almost a year ago, the MAPAL youth and trainee representatives (JAV) were able to organize a blood donation day again this year. More than 80 employees at the Aalen site responded to the JAV's call. The young people received professional support from a team from the German Red Cross blood donation service in a hall specially set up for the blood drive on the MAPAL company premises.

Regular blood donors as well as first-time donors

Over a period of six hours, many regular blood donors among the MAPAL employees took advantage of this opportunity, as did colleagues who had only donated their red blood to a good cause a few times before.

A number of first-time donors were also among those willing to donate - and of course some trainees (minimum requirements include an age of 18 years and a weight of at least 50 kilograms) did not miss the opportunity to give almost 500 milliliters of their valuable blood for the community.
According to the German Red Cross Blood Donor Service, up to three blood preparations can be made from one blood donation.

15.000 blood donations ar needed every day for medical care in Germany

Incidentally, there were no waiting times, as every donor had been able to choose a preferred date in advance. After registering and answering the list of questions required for the blood donation, they went on to the preliminary examination and finally to a short check-up appointment with the doctor.

Only then were the blood donors “tapped” while lying on the donor beds - and within a few minutes the blood donation was already over. Before the donors could enjoy a hot meal, coffee and drinks, they first had to take a short break. After all, if you lose half a liter of blood within a few minutes, your circulation can get a little out of control. But experienced blood donors know this anyway, as they act according to the motto: Do good, donate blood, save lives!
