Digitisation at MAPAL
Application Manager Dennis Sandig talks about his working environment.
Digitisation needs drivers who strive for the best. Dennis Sandig is usually involved at connection points to mediate between specialist departments and development teams. He reports on his experiences at MAPAL.
“We build digital touchpoints for all our customers. Our aim is to really provide every customer with the right access to our company”, Dennis Sandig explains.
The business informatics graduate is employed at MAPAL as an Application Manager and is involved in multi-layered digitisation projects. From product development and product quality to cooperation with customers and partners, the digitisation process permeates all areas of the company. This means Dennis knows the different goals and challenges very well. He currently holds the role of a Product Owner in a Commerce Cloud project. In the course of extensively relaunching MAPAL’s entire online presence, he’s not only focused on master data management and connection implementation, but also on ensuring the highest possible usability.

Having a broad and deep knowledge is desired
When Dennis applied to MAPAL, he wasn’t aware of the immense scope of MAPAL’s product portfolio: “I thought to myself: ‘Oh, yes, MAPAL. They produce some kind of drills’. But one must really say: This high level of specialisation in the product range cannot really be described in words.”Despite or precisely because of the high level of specialisation in many areas, MAPAL has a desire for its workforce to acquire both broad and deep knowledge. This is why the internal academy adequately prepares ‘newcomers’ for the company and its products with its training programme. “You get a 14-day introduction to the MAPAL product world, which obviously is amazing, because how else would you build a shop system for products you are not familiar with?” According to Dennis Sandig, the mere fact that there is such extensive product training is a sign of the high esteem that MAPAL holds new employees in.
International team spirit
In the meantime, Dennis has arrived well in the MAPAL world – not least thanks to the close cooperation within the teams, where they actively support each other. “It's really nice here at MAPAL. There’s always one person who can fully address a technical question, there is always someone to share something with. That’s the only way you can develop as well.”
