MAPAL provides an insight into its financial year, markets and innovations
Dr Jochen Kress reflects on a challenging financial year and looks to the future
This year’s MAPAL Group press conference, held on 25 June 2026 at the company’s headquarters in Aalen, attracted a great deal of interest. More than 20 trade journalists from the DACH region, as well as representatives of the local press, attended to find out about the latest developments and the company’s progress.
Thomas Teuber, Product Manager for Fine Boring & Reaming, then presented the EA Performance System, one of MAPAL’s most important new products for 2026/2027. The system offers a wide range of applications for machining diameters from 10 to 19 mm and contributes to high productivity in series production.
Dr Dirk Sellmer, Senior Director of Research & Development, provided a detailed overview of the innovations and further developments at the AMB in Stuttgart. Following this, live machining demonstrations and an exhibition of the solutions presented offered the opportunity for in-depth discussions with experts from research and development, as well as product and segment management.
In the afternoon, Stephan Köstler, Senior Director of Product & Service Management, discussed the practical implementation of complete turnkey solutions. Using a specific project as an example, he demonstrated how MAPAL implements turnkey solutions step by step – from design through to series production – and successfully transitions comprehensive projects into stable production within a short timeframe.
The day concluded with a presentation by Markus Deininger (MAPAL) and Dr Markus Friedrich (ZOLLER), who demonstrated how the increasing complexity of machining can be managed using data-driven approaches. The focus was on the aim of systematically utilising existing process and tool data and combining it with specific expertise to derive concrete, application-specific cutting parameter recommendations. The joint PRODaaS@Scale project highlights how AI can be used to determine cutting parameters more precisely and stabilise processes more quickly.
The face-to-face discussions with the journalists provided valuable insights and highlighted the importance of open dialogue on the future of manufacturing.
