MAPAL organised a typing campaign to support the fight against blood cancer. The trigger was the case from Kerkingen near Aalen. A suitable stem cell donor was sought for a little boy who suffers from a genetic defect and has since fortunately been found. MAPAL nevertheless kept up the campaign in order to also improve the chances of other people who are dependent on such a donation.
The opportunity to be typed at the company was very well received. About 60 employees took advantage of it. "I had been planning to have myself typed for a long time, but until now I simply didn't have the necessary drive," said one employee. The campaign at MAPAL was an ideal opportunity to register as a potential donor with the DKMS. MAPAL took over the organisation and also bore the costs of the typing.
