Precision fine boring for small diameters with minimal adjustment effort

With the EA Performance System, MAPAL presents fine boring tools with simple, μm-precise adjustment in the diameter range from 10 to 19 mm. The innovative system combines easy handling with high precision, process reliability and cost-effective fine machining.

The EA Performance System sets a new benchmark in the fine machining of small diameters. Whereas two adjusting screws and a great deal of skill and experience were previously required, the new system significantly reduces this effort: the back taper is integrated into the design, and the diameter is set using just one adjusting screw.

For the diameter range from 10 to 19 mm, the EasyAdjust principle could not be implemented in the design. MAPAL therefore developed a standalone system with a newly designed indexable insert and a precisely matched clamping jaw. The defined contact geometry ensures positive, reproducible positioning and fixation of the cutting edge and precisely transmits the adjustment movement, even under process loads.

The EA Performance System thus combines easy operation with maximum accuracy and stable machining results. It is suitable for a broad range of workpiece materials and particularly for high-precision fit and bearing bores, for example in transmission housings, cylinders, crankshafts and camshafts. The reduced setting and correction effort minimises sources of error, reduces scrap and increases efficiency in series production.
