Sustainability in focus: MAPAL now generates its own solar power at the Pforzheim site
The newly installed PV system spans a total of three hall rooftops
MAPAL continues to focus on renewable energy: Since November 2025, a new photovoltaic system at the Pforzheim site has been generating the company’s own solar power. This initiative helps reduce MAPAL’s carbon footprint and strengthens energy efficiency.
The photovoltaic system has a total capacity of 725 kWp and covers a PV generator area of 3,177 square meters. It was installed on the roofs of three building sections constructed between 2001 and 2014.
The project was completed within five months. As a result, around twelve percent of the site’s energy demand can now be met from renewable sources – and this is just the beginning.
"Sustainability is not just a buzzword for us, but a lived responsibility. Investing in solar energy is another building block to make our production future-proof and environmentally friendly," explains Christian Molch, Managing Director of the MAPAL site in Pforzheim. MAPAL invested around €770,000 in the new PV system.
"With the photovoltaic system, we are making an active contribution to the energy transition and reducing our carbon footprint," emphasizes Marcus Dorn, Head of Maintenance at the Pforzheim site, who led the project together with partner Palme Solar from Aalen. Alexander Schäfer, Managing Director of Palme Solar, adds: "The collaboration with MAPAL shows how industrial companies can actively contribute to the energy transition. Projects like this send a strong signal for the region and for climate protection."
