As part of your commercial or IT training at MAPAL, you’ll gain a comprehensive insight into all economic business processes – in a global environment.
From Sales to Purchasing to Logistics: You’ll be expertly trained and deployed in all commercial areas. You’ll work directly in the day-to-day business, learn how to use globally networked systems such as SAP and be the contact person for customers and business partners. You’ll also gain an insight into our technical processes and the demands that MAPAL places on the manufacturing of precision tools.
Overview of commercial apprenticeships
Developing software is the focus of your training as an IT specialist for application development. You get to plan, design and program a wide variety of programs and applications and develop user-friendly user interfaces that are suitable for the application. Various programming languages and special developer tools are used here. However, training people to use the new software is also part of your job description.
Requirements:
- Good secondary school certificate, vocational baccalaureate diploma or A-levels
- Good mathematical skills and technical understanding
- Interest in hardware, software, etc.

- Good initiative, diligent, possesses organisational skills, patient
Training content:
- Information and telecommunication systems
- System development: Learning and applying different test procedures, expanding application solutions
- Testing and adapting existing applications
- Troubleshooting
- Creating customised application solutions
- Training: Getting familiar with different training and consulting methods
Duration of training:
- 3 years
- If you perform well at school and in the workplace, you can shorten your course by half a year or even a whole year

IT specialists specialising in system integration are responsible for planning and configuring IT systems. This includes installing and setting up hardware components, operating systems and networks. In case of faults, you are on the scene and ready to help the users with application problems. During your training, you will learn, among other things, how to distinguish between operating systems and their areas of application and what you need to consider when customising and configuring them. You will also gain experience in the application of programming logics and methods and in testing systems.

- Distinct ability to work in a team, analytical thinking, interest in hardware/software

During their training, warehouse logistics specialists learn how to store goods properly, how to prepare economic and on-time route plans, and how to create loading lists and loading plans. You’ll operate forklifts, load trucks and organise the unloading of goods. In addition, you’ll get to compile deliveries, prepare offers and help with inventory work as well as simple annual financial statements. You’ll learn all about the profession during a three-year training programme. Alternative career path: Specialised warehouse assistants also receive the qualification “warehouse logistics specialist” by extending their training for one year.

Warehouse clerks receive, sort, store and forward goods. They work with various aids, such as forklift trucks or automatic sorting systems. During your training, you’ll learn, among other things, how to check stocks and order documents and how to carry out work orders in a way that focuses on the customer. You’ll also learn what’s important when it comes to storing goods. After the two-year apprenticeship and subsequent employment, you’ll be able to work in our logistics and shipping area.

Industrial clerks support the commercial processes within companies. During the course of your training, you’ll be expertly trained and deployed in all commercial areas of our company. This is how you become familiar with all the important processes in the various departments.

Management assistants for office management are responsible for a wide range of office tasks – from bookkeeping and accounting to customer communication and secretarial duties. After your apprenticeship, which lasts a maximum of three years, you can be employed in all commercial areas of our company.

- Good grades in German, English and Mathematics
- Conscientious, quick perception, good self-organisation skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work in a team, flexibility, reliability

- Participation in projects
